Temples, Juju Dhau... and tick in my arm 12/23

In bed at 8 after a cold ass shower! This is why it's not worth taking showers here. Even if you get warmish water, the air is so cold you end up freezing. We jumped into bed to fight to cold. Drank the rest of our whiskey and some Oreos and called it a night.

The bed was great to sleep in however the, no sleeping bag needed. Up at 6:30 for some freshly ground coffee on the rooftop. We finally found the bus to Bhaktapur after asking lots of people along the way. Buses are located in kinda random areas so asking is the only way.

We made it in an hour and headed straight for breakfast on a rooftop where we had masala tea, boiled eggs, and juju (king curd). We decided to stay here for the night since sunrise is probably non-existant in Nargakot due to the wood burning fires.

We walked around and saw the temples. Many have partially collapsed but a couple big ones are still surprisingly standing. The woodwork is very detailed and impressive how well it had stood against time.

So this am my bicep was very sore and I said something to Andy. I don't remember hitting my bicep. As we were walking, I took off my jacket and felt my arm under my long sleeves and felt a bump. Fuck. I have to take a look. Low and fucking behold, a tick was in my arm and it was hurting. Don't pull it out! As I remembered from camp. You have to burn it or put Vaseline on it. We went back to the room to smother it. I WebMD'd it and it said to pull straight out, no matter what, don't burn or smother it. Wtf. Has everything I learned been wrong? Andy went on a hunt for tweezers that would pull the body and head out without squeezing the body because mine weren't right as I contemplated having Lymes Disease for the rest of my life. Finally he came back and pulled it out. He said (I didn't look) that the tick pulled the skin several inches from my arm before the head came out. It's fucking done. We are definitely doing the bug check tonight.

Anyways, we spent the rest of the afternoon eating which kept my mind off the incident. We ate fresh donuts ($.1 ea), buff momos ($.6 a plate), Juju Dhau ($.85 a pint), and a pomelo ($1). That Juju Dhau (king yogurt or kind curd) is amazing. It's basically a curd which tastes like pure cream but it's yogurt and delicious. The buff momos weren't bad either but I prefer veg. We went to a small shop where everyone sits waiting for momos. When they are done streaming in a huge vat, they serve us sitting at the small tables. You eat quickly and leave.

To conclude our eating, we got samosas, beer, chips, and more juju. Not much to do in this town so another early bedtime (if I can ever get to sleep). Damn ticks.
