Desert sunrise 1/14

The sleep last night was very peaceful. No dogs howling, no horns honking. Andy wakes me to watch the sunrise. It was magnificent. The clouds cast beautiful colors across the sky and over the sand dunes.

We packed up and jumped on our camel cart. The camel and dude slept out there w us. A quick breakfast and we headed back to Jaisalmer while stopping for pictures of a farmers home against the wind turbine and the Jaisalmer fort off in the distance.

We took it easy today. We had some beers on the rooftop of our hotel (great view of the fort) along w our masala peanuts and grilled cheese sandwiches. The rest of the afternoon consisted of reading, watching Air Force jets fly around, and kids flying kites until we ventured out for some banana lassi's and Oreos. The jets were doing loops and flips like they do at shows. I'm pretty sure we'll gain back all the weight we lost (especially after Germany). Andy got hit by a rickshaw again. This one backed up into him to which the driver just smiled and said sorry after Andy had a word.

We were tired from being lazy all day but ventured out for dinner. Any needed meat which isn't easy in this Hindu town so we went back to Monica's where we had some good tandoori the other night. Andy had it again and some mutton while I was adventurous and had the Rajasthani Thali set. It had 7 bowls of goodness plus some chapati w grains it tasted like it was straight out of local hipster organic shop. It was damn good. We watched the kids on the rooftops fly kites then one landed right next to us without an owner. Earlier we saw one flying away so I guess it's common. He handed the kite to a kid. How nice.
