Snorkeling like a boss 1/22
Amazing snorkel day!! We headed to the jetty after another huge breakfast and jumped in because we heard they feed the fish at 10:30. It was a little intimidating getting in because of all of the ramoras (they have flat heads w their mouth at the top so the can feed when they attach to the rays) but they got out of our way. Once in, there were tons of fish, huge honeycomb moray eels swimming out of their caves, and huge sting rays swimming all around us. So nuts! We swam around for an hour before other people interrupted our pleasurable swim.
Time in the pool to rinse off and back to the room to relax a bit. Nutella and bananas check. For our second snorkeling adventure we jumped in right by our villa, swam out past the water villas to the edge of the reef and all the way around to the jetty where we started this am, probably half way around the island. It was a long and great swim. Andy kept diving far down reaching probably 4 0 ft. We saw lion fish, parrot fish eating the coral (you can hear them in the water), lobsters (when Andy was 30 ft down), tons of tropical fish, and Andy got some awesome pics. Very cool.
Back to the scuba center to take our Nitrox test. We got it- way to be productive on vaca! Back to our usual evening relaxation seats to chill for the evening. The back of my legs are burnt to shit. I wore a shirt snorkeling but forgot the legs. Well it's not a trip to the ocean unless I burn the shit out of myself. We saw the bats flying around. One swooped down and took a drink from the pool. Pretty cool.
During the happy hour we had a visit from Antonio, the dive shop manager, and we had some great discussions on environmental damage, Tibet, and those from a certain country who act like assholes it's so great to meet people from other countries and have intelligent discussions w them. Tonight we dined on amazing tuna sashimi again w some tempura shrimp and veggies. Yum. Andy and I dwelled on how amazing this trip has been and to not let it go through waste when we return to the same old grind.
