Getting closer 12/20
Arrived in Panama today. I'm pretty foggy from the Xanax but we still have a long flight ahead of us to Santiago. So far the Spanish is rusty. Not sure how I'm going to understand the Chilean accent when I can barely understand the northern accent.
So I understand the Chilean accent as good as any which isn't so good. We arrived in Santiago around 6:30 pm after a long day of flying. The whole Xanax worked well because I don't remember all the hours in the plane. I was a little nervous going though customs because that's where "the incident" happened when we where flying through Chile last time. Andy didn't yell at anyone and I didn't try to choke him so it was a success. This time we claimed goods on the list and we got through no problem. That was after Andy threw the majority of the salami away before they could catchs.
We took a "taxi" to our hostel. We paid 20.000 which I assumed we got taken like we always do when we first arrive in a new country. The Che Lagarto hostel is nice and we are sharing a room w two others. We went for a walk around 8:30 and the dude at the desk said places open at 9. We walked down the Main Street w the street vendors and got out first taste of Chilean food. We had a queso empanada, papas w carne in them and two skewers of meat. I think there was chicken, sausage, other pork and a hotdog on there. Yum! Wasn't sure if it was thoroughly cooked but I guess we'll find out. No beers to go to be found. Apparently not much is open on a Saturday. I didn't need one anyway, we have to get up in several hours for our 5:30 flight to Punto Arenas. Not sure why I thought that was a good decision.
