Moving on from the 1% 12/18

We took our time this am to soak in the rest of the hotel. Andy got us some croissants and lattes and we ate the rest of the chocolate cake. After we shipped some stuff back home, we jumped on the bus for Begnas Lake, just southeast of Pokhara. We opted for the $.8 bus ride instead of the $30 private driver.  It was a short easy ride and we got there in the early afternoon.

The bus came to the end of the road. Where's the lake? Andy found a sign but there were no guesthouses by the lake.  We ended up walking several miles up and over the hill towards a resort. Andy picked up a dog along the way. She followed us the whole way and stayed on his heals. I wanted to bring her home but I guess that's not possible. She was the sweetest. It's funny how scared Nepalese are of dogs when the dogs are more scared of people.

We saw a sign for a resort so we figured why not check it out. We walked a looong way down steps knowing damn well we'd have to hike back up. Blackie followed us like she was ours. There were no visitors at the resort and they didn't want to make a deal less than $130 a night so we moved on to a $2.5 a night. Take that suckas (after we hiked back up)! The place we found is just right for us, no more people waiting on us all the time, that's annoying. We had an amazing dinner of banana lassi's, curry fish stew, and a whole grilled fish w ginger and other spices (fresh fish from the lake). Yum! We have a great view of the lake, so quiet and calm. We watched the village kids play while the sun set. The girl who lives here, Sunitshya, speaks great English and played w my phone finding games and switching my airplane mode off (ugh). She was super sweet and tools pics of herself.

At dark, we had another traveller come to the guesthouse. Marina is from Serbia and we chatted for hours. She's has great stories about her host families in America and her time spent working in Congo. That's the best part about staying in these less expensive places, meeting cool people. I don't know where our black dog friend went. I miss her and hope she's ok.
