Family time with schäufela 1/27

Up early since we are a bit jet lagged then the amazing breakfast was had! Andy picked up some pretzels and baguettes from the local French bakery and we had all the cheese and meat one could handle. We’ve been talking about this breakfast for a looong time. The sun rose and cast beautiful colors across the sky.

We went for a short hike in the Schwarzwald overlooking Freiburg then hit up the Kiedelbad (mineral thermal pools) to get in more relaxation just in case we had any remaining stress (we didn’t). The thermalbad consists of several hot pools at different temperatures, a large pool w jets and when the bell rings you move onto the next. There’s also a lazy river and hot and cold pools.

We had dinner at Rudi and Helena’s where she made an amazing schäufela (pork shoulder) w kartolfelsalat, feldsalat, and of course wine. Andy was in heaven, this is what he’s been dreaming about for two months. Not only was the food amazing but we had a great time w the family. Hans Peter & Heike, Gabi & Göetz, and Nicolas were all there and we called a preggars Catherine who’s due in 2 weeks. I was super tired and wanted to nap like Opa Rudi. Love spending time w the fam!
