Best steak ever 12/23
Yes that's a strong statement but it's true.
We woke up w the bird creating chaos in the trees, they are so damn loud. My inflatable mat works for shit. I still love camping!! We woke up by the lake w the sun shining bright. No wind last night. Too bad, we had all the wind cords tied down so I was hoping to see them work. We made some coffee and ate some boiled eggs, and cheese and meat crackers for breakfast. Not too shabby, plus the whole milk really added to it.
We packed up and headed for the bus stop just a bit down the street. Jumped on the bus back to Bariloche. So easy getting around here.
Back to the hostel and got beds in a dorm room. We had the private the other night, no need to get too cushy. We walked around for a bit and grabbed lunch and some beer at Bachmann's. We had to plan our meals for the day so we'd be hungry for dinner tonight. We split a burger and it was goood!! Time for a siesta.
Back at the hostel and we chilled in the room we had to ourselves. Andy watched a movie, I took a nap. We headed back out for happy hour just before 6. Andy was jonesin for some more craft beer before we departed. We hit up Menush again and sat outside. The sun was shining on the lake and we were taking in our last hours in Bariloche.
Time to head up the hill for dinner at Alto de Fuego!!! They opened at 8 and that's when we had reservations. The guy asked for the name. No Andrew. Uh oh. Shit was about to go down. No worries, it was under Cleatus from the email reservations. Oh good that was close. We sat by the window. The restaurant was chill and homey, not was you'd expect from a place w top reviews. The music they were playing was awesome and apparently they have a Spotify channel. We ordered a bottle of Las Perdidos, the same Malbec we had the pervious night, salad, mashed potatoes, and steak. They had about 10 meat options so Andy was torn. Our cute little waitress recommended the first two options, we went w the rib eye. She said it was big enough for two people. Are you sure?? We took her word due to the amount of food we had for lunch the previous day.
It quickly arrived and it was two large cuts. Definitely enough for two, especially w the sides we ordered. Andy was sad when the two Israeli girls next to us ordered twice the amount we had. That was forgotten when we took a bit. Holy shit it was the best steak ever! Yes ever and I don't usually care for steak. We relished in the meal, only talking about how amazing it was for the next 30 min. Unbelievable. Andy was kicking himself for not making reservations here every night. And make his way down the meat list. We went for dessert of Dulce de Leche mousse. It was light and delectable. The entire meal and ambiance was perfect, and it was cheaper than our lunch the day before. All this deliciousness for $50? Shut up! What a way to end our stay in Argentina.
We headed back to Home Hostel and called it a night. We walked past kids walking around chanting and cheering. Same kids on their high school break. You only have to be 18 to drink so no wonder why they come here.
I'll spare a blog tomorrow since we'll be traveling for 20 hours w 3 layovers to get to Cartegena Columbia. Time for napping and thinking about the next destination.
