Silence of the lamb 12/22
I had a hangover this am, not surprised. Damn beer will do it every time. Random drunk memory, all the kids roaming around w the same ski jackets on are because they graduated high school and it's a right of passage for them. They come from all over, it's the first time they r without their parents. That's why it's a shit show in downtown Bariloche. Anyways.
All was well, we had a private room so no need to be uncomfortable. We made our way down to breakfast after 9 for coffee, toast, and eggs. Andy is still sick. He needs a rest day.
We pack up and left the hostel by 11 and head for the Llao Llao bus stop w our camping gear. Andy found a place for us to stay by the lake called Petunia campsite. We figured out how the buses work finally. You tell the driver the km where you are getting off and that's what he charges you for.
He drops us off at our campsite and we grab a place down by the lake. We set up camp and looked for some lunch. We took a detour through the residential area. Those houses are so fucking cute! Tiny w flowers and grass plus wooden fences. We just wanted a snack since we were going to properly cook dinner, however we ran into Rincón Patagonia and had the parilla. That's where it all went down.
Andy order the lamb for 2 and I ordered the salad, no to mention the lovely full glasses of Malbec. The meat plate was ridiculous. We laughed when it came out it was so huge and sizzling. The apps were yum but the main course was even better. We killed all the meat and a majority of the salad. Even the waitress was impressed w how little meat (Andy) left on the bones. We all laughed, and damn we were killing the Spanish w the waitress, high five! This was supposed to be a snack and we stuffed ourselves at 2pm? Whatevs, we are on vacation.
We finally leave and take the bus to Llao Llao, not knowing what to expect. The bus drops us off at the nicest largest hotel in front of the mountains. It was stupid nice. We walked passed rich people playing archery next to the golf course. But that was all there was to see. We only walked around for a bit, down by the lake to see the various blue waters, up by the church for the view. We started hiking back on the road and the bus immediately showed up so we jumped on. I said 13 so he knew which km marker to drop us off at.
Andy wanted to hit up a cevezaria so we walked. On the way we hit up a wine store that's supposed to be discounted 20% w nice wine. We grabbed some more Malbec. It was a cute place kinda in the middle no where. Next was beer. I wasn't thrilled since I was full and didn't want beer. Never mind! The place was beautiful!! The outside was in the grass w a view of a field of horses grazing and the Andes. Andy had the IPA (pronounced as one word here) and I had the cider (it was light and lovely). Shut your mouth! It was so beautiful, so nice sitting in the sun we had 6 beers for $26, not bad. We soaked it all in. Finally it was about 7 so we went for the supermarket thinking about dodging rocks at our head as we walked along the road.
BTW, when we were walking to the brewery, 3 motorcycles showed up w police and their shotguns and faces covered. WTF? So they weren't there anymore but we were wondering what the hell was going on. We grabbed spices and cheese and eggs and good stuff.
Back at the camp. We made mac and cheese w the leftover lamb from lunch (it wasn't much). Plus the Malbec wine, mmmm it was so good!! Damn we had a great day w no plans. Now we are eating and drinking amazing food w an amazing view. F those hotels that charge you up the A. This is way better and more private. I love roaming around countries w this man. Best friend and more. We always have an amazing time together. Very lucky.
