Livin' the life in Koh Samui 4/20

Up at 5 because Andy was. Breakfast of toast and eggs before taking a taxi to the airport. Which airport? Well it says BKK international, but we are domestic, and the airports are very far from each other.  Nothing like trying to figure it out when you’re in the cab. Make the wrong decision and we’ll miss our flight. BKK is the freakin airport, not the city, but I guess things are different here. I looked up the flight online and saw it’s the domestic airport, which of course has international to make it more confusing. We arrived, quick check-in, bought our 2 bottles of champs (for the wedding) and 2 bottles of wine and beer (for us).

Short flight to Koh Samui and we found the 4 others arriving for the wedding. The ride to the villas took about 45 min and we were in a disco pimp van. I’m surprised how many shops this island has, packed full. It definitely is built for all the tourists. A nice downpour to clean the air then the sun was shining bright when we arrived just after noon. The villas are scattered across many pools and the ocean is a bay that we have all to ourselves, which then opens up into the great blue.

We checked into a fabulous room w/ a mini pool in front. These villas are nuts! They are freakin huge and beautiful and not what we are used to when we travel. Some welcome tea and then welcome beers, then more beers… Uh oh, this is going to be some week. A quick sammie for lunch and then we hopped in the pool. One of the 3 pools that is. Somehow the afternoon got away from us and it was time for the evening festivities.

There are about 60 people here, some family, mostly friends from CA, CO, and various places all over the world. We headed down to the beach for dinner. More drinks and buffet of fish and muscles and deliciousness.  We ate, we drank, the Thai reggae band played the best of UB40 and Bob. Then came the Thai dancers. Andy and I sat in the front so of course that meant that we were called up later to dance in a circle w/ a handful of people. It was fun although I was not trying to be up there. Good food w/ good people. We met so many people today and they are all awesome. I was expressing my concern to a girl about all the alcohol available all day long. She said, well you don't have to drink it. I said, I know we just met, but that doesn't make any sense. LOL. I don't think she's going to be hanging out w/ me. This is going to be a good 5 days, if my liver can handle it.
