We have arrived! 6/12
Up at 3 to pack and hit up the airport. We arrived with no problem, there aren't many people on the roads at that time. We reached Avis and packed not to my liking, we didn't have enough time and I don't like to rucsh for the plane. There was no attendant at th 24 hr rental place is we went inside. The checkin kiosk couldn't find my passport so I got irritated. We finally got our tickets after checking in the bag and remembered to take they to the rental counter. We only have 15 min until boarding.
We went through the metal detectors while I carried the sweet bag with sugar all over it. Not worth it! We don't event like sweets! We made it to the gate with 5 min to spare. I don't like this time crunch a the airport. On the plane and it was nice and no end half empty. By the time I calmed down we were landing. We landed at 6 and were picked up at 6:45 for our villa with Gary and Jodi and their daughter.
Santorini is so beautiful and our villa was an amazing place. The Seahorse is on a cliff with 3 levels of rooms. People were checking out of the villa so we dropped our bags off and went for coffee. We had way too much coffee and Andy and I had yogurt and honey. Sooo good!
We went back to the villa and sat by the pool and enjoyed the view. Cocktails appears with food left from the chef that was at the villa the previous night. We ate Tzaziki and fava bean spread and some tomato and eggplant and caper concoction. Andy got us a wonderful room at the bottom with amazing views. One room had a cave going to the bathroom since we are on a cliff. This was the first day we actually relaxed and we relaxed the hell of the day. Soaked for a bit in the pool and enjoyed the perfect weather.
Andy eventually went to get food for dinner with Thennis. They went to a restaurant warehouse for food and he got these amazing Santorini tomatoes, pork, to whole chickens, lamb chops, lemons, dill, parsley, pitas, Tzaziki and potatoes for dinner. I made the Greek salad (which got rave reviews by the Greeks) and Andy made the meat. The dinner was amazing! All anyone could talk about was how good it was. People thought he made too much, like always, and it as all gone. So much was eaten we had to share a chicken leg and Gary gave us a piece of his lamb.
After dinner people ate th cookies- success! We stayed up drinking and the bartenders made banana sandwiches, slices of banana with vodka in between. We had lots of wine and vodka and melon concoctions with JD. In bed by midnight, so much fun. What an awesome day and evening with good people. So happy to be here!
