Island time 1/2
Up after 7 since we went to bed hella early due to the hangover. Same breakfast w a new fruit juice, back to the room to enjoy the last of it. We checked out. I paid only 120k pesos (~$40). I'm guessing all the food we had was free and I just paid for beer? Fucking awesome! Then this place was hella cheap!
We headed south for the local laguna. No buses (at least that we found) make the connection so we took 2 different buses. We got to the spot at 1 and I jumped right in. The jump was about 20ft high into a little cove blocked off by a rope. Kids were scared. The path out of the water was a little tricky. You had to grab a rope and wait for the tide to push you up, then you pull and climb up the volcanic rock slightly covered w cement. Not really sure of the bus system still and I don't think any buses pass by we need. A lovely guy taking tourists back to town gives us a ride. I offer a tip. He's doesn't take it. What a nice guy.
We headed back to the hotel to rinse off in the pool and get some lunch. This is included too? Hell yeah!! Good thing I paid for those beers ahead of time. We relax, then we relax, plus a little more relaxing by the pool. We got enough sun today. Andy took pics of the iguanas. We are staying at the Fat Iguana after all (Iguana Gorda).
We were ready to go around 5:30. The super nice lady who took care of us (I never got her name) sent us off. She's from Bogota and has 4 kids there. She's been here for a month, maybe this is a temp thing. I wish I knew more Spanish.
The first buss that passed by slowed down then took off when we went for our bags. Asshole. Andy started to get anxious because we were super excited for the sandwicheria. We get to the airport at the earliest we can check our bags. Off walking across town for the sandwicheria! It was open and busy. Andy got his large tuna and I went for the hoagie, one piña and one lulo liquado. Then we went for two more, this time a tomate one (tree tomato). Mmmm.
I'm done w island time. We definitely had the best hotel on the island- only 5 rooms, quiet, quiet area of the island, clean, amazing pescado included, and a pool. The wifi didn't work for a couple days which makes someone crazy, but it's good that person gets a break and disconnects. The rest of the island is definitely Colombia. Not sure what they do w the tourist $$. Traffic doesn't stop for pedestrians either. I'm glad we came- always an experience. 1.5 hour flight back. We land at 10:30pm and need to check into our 6 person dorm by 11. Back to party town. Boo.
