The last 8 bed hostel... hopefully ever 1/3
Woke up at 8 this am after a questionable nights sleep. We slept on the top bunks head to head. I had to ask for a blanket. It was hot and smelled like swap ass. Andy accidentally whacked me on the head, time to get up. Breakfast of eggs and some fried things and cafe con leche. What to do today.
We walked over to the first hostel we stayed at in town since they had a tour lady. We bought tickets for the 9am mud volcano. Hopefully it's less of a shit show than the 2pm. Back at our hostel. We weren't digging it. Plus we just wanted to hang out today. Plus this was our last night in Cartagena. Plus we are tired of loud kids. Plus we have mosquito bites all over us. Plus we are fucking adults and can pay a little bit more for a private room and a pool. Done and done. Although we already paid for two nights at the Green Hostel, we were OK w leaving it behind.
We reach our new digs at 11. Oh yes, this will work. Checkin at 3. No worries, we'll walk around and get nice and hot for the pool this pm. We walked around Getsemani which is just to the right of old town. It has all the potential to be the same as San Diego where were staying, however there's a lot of empty buildings. We walked around and took pictures of street art, I finally got my hat, and ended up getting a bracelet. Andy's feet were killing him from his flip-flops so we stopped and got a beer at the KGB bar. Way overpriced but fun to look at.
I did some research to ensure we had a good lunch and found a little café close to our hotel. We walked in right in time, there are only four bistro tables in the bar and one was open. The drinks weren't cheap, but they were delicious. I got a basil mint gin drink, and Andy got a fruit lime gin drink. Reviews said we should get the prosciutto and quiche Lorraine, so that's what we did. The food was really amazing and in all it was very much worth the $33.
Time for checkin. We decided to stop by the restaurant where we were going to have dinner to see if we needed reservations. We do, so we made reservations for 8 o'clock. Back to the hotel, the room is ready, and it's amazing and private. The pool was just outside, we jumped in and relax for the rest of the afternoon preparing for our big feast this evening.
Four hours of sitting on the terrace next to the pool definitely got is ready for dinner. We had a pre-drinks at a bar and hit Quebracho at 8. Andy have the ribeye and I had the suckling pig with a bottle of Malbec. It was quite delicious but I have to say our ribeyes in Argentina or still the best yet. The guitar player and bongo player played during dinner which was amazing. Some crème brûlée for desert even though I didn't really have room but made it work. Back in our room with air conditioning one last time. Tomorrow night will be spent in the Medellín airport.
